Dr. Polin Lay was born in Cambodia, moved to the U.S when she was six years old, and was raised in Northern Virginia.
When Dr. Lay was fourteen years old; she received her first eye exam. She was so fascinated by all the equipment used during her exam that her optometrist offered her a shadowing position. During Optometry school, Dr. Lay provided free vision screenings/ exams in poverty-stricken areas throughout Puerto Rico and was awarded the Volunteer Community Service Award upon graduation. After finishing optometry school, Dr. Lay moved back home to Virginia.
